February is a month all about the heart, in more ways than one. This year, Hearts in San Francisco celebrates 20 years in our city. That’s twenty years of coming together to make a profound impact on patient-centered care, twenty years of civic pride in the beautiful Hearts in San Francisco sculptures that raise critical funds for our city’s public hospital, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, and twenty years of investing in health equity and innovation for all who live here. Hearts in San Francisco is one of the most widely recognized public art projects around the world.
The 17 new Hearts will be joined by four additional 20th Anniversary Collection Hearts from the special 20th-anniversary celebration year. These Large, Table Top, and Mini Hearts will be on display throughout the Marketplace beginning January 9th, and will remain at the Ferry Building until February 29th, with a brief hiatus from February 5th through 9th for the 2024 Hearts in SF Gala, taking place on February 8th at The Conservatory at One Sansome. All Hearts will be available as a part of the Hearts in SF auction, benefitting Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, beginning February 1st.
On display will be 21 Hearts: six Large, six Table Top, and nine Mini. The Large Hearts will be located near the entrances, and the Table Top and Mini Hearts will be displayed on pedestals throughout the building between vendors.
Lighting up the night at The Conservatory at One Sansome on February 8, Hearts in SF will be the fundraising event of the year. An inspiring evening celebrating the impact of 20 years of Hearts, this year’s fundraising gala will look back at the investments made in our city’s public health and look to the future of equitable health care for all.

The Hearts in San Francisco project debuted in 2004 with 130 heart sculptures created by local Bay Area artists and auctioned by the Foundation in support of Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center.
The Foundation raised nearly 3 million dollars for ZSFG in that first year. Today, we carry on this tradition by commissioning and auctioning a new set of hearts each year. The funds raised support those delivering on the promise of accessible and equitable health care for all in our city.
