Get ready to take a spin at San Francisco's newest outdoor roller rink this season! Whether you are new to roller skating or a skating pro, San FranDISCO offers a fun skating atmosphere for everyone, just 0.2 miles from your door at NEMA San Francisco. The new 5,000-square-foot roller rink is located at 150 Larkin Street, Fulton Plaza (next to the Main Library) in Civic Center and features both the traditional high-quality flooring roller rink flooring, a skate rental kiosk, public seating, restrooms, and an expansive canopy roof to keep the fog and sun off your stylish moves. Skaters can enjoy disco lights, music from local DJs, and more at the outdoor covered rink.

San FranDISCO is a collaboration between SF’s popular Church of 8 Wheels and the Civic Center Community Benefit District (CCCBD), part of the city’s Economic Development Plan to bring more life back into Downtown SF. It opened on October 15 with Mayor London Breed and more in attendance.

San Francisco’s “Godfather of Skate,” David Miles, founder of the city’s premiere roller-skating venue, the Church of 8 Wheels, is working with several city entities to run the pop-up at Fulton Plaza in Civic Center, where it will remain open through the end of the year, reports SF Chronicle.

“I think this has that SF energy, that specialness that’s different than any other city,” said Miles, who has been on a mission to make roller skating a more permanent feature of the city’s sports and entertainment options. “And I think this is something that we all really need,” he said.

The rink will operate five days a week, from Wednesday to Sunday from noon to 8pm, and offer several options for skating lessons through the end of the year. San FranDISCO offers 90 minute skating sessions 3x per day starting on even hours: noon-1:30pm, 2-3:30pm and 4-5:30pm and one 120-minute session: 6-8pm. *The rink is also available for Private Parties on days outside of the regular schedule. Tickets are $15 for adults (18 and up) and $5 for youth.

Civic Center Plaza itself is bringing some exciting events and attractions to accompany the rink’s opening, including a coffee kiosk, weekday musical performances, food trucks, and the highly-anticipated Civic Center Plaza Tree Lighting on December 7. The Heart of the City Farmers’ Market will continue to operate out of nearby UN Plaza on Wednesdays and Sundays.

With good tunes spinning all day long and illuminated skates at night — come get your groove on and dance to the beat of music. This rink is for everyone: from the young to the young-at-heart — in the Heart of the City! Purchase your tickets here and plan to grab a bite at an area restaurant after you skate.
