Spring is a beautiful time in the City to get outside and explore a trail, ride a bike, pack a picnic or take a stroll with your pooch. San Francisco has a variety of outdoor destinations for you to get your dose of nature. Here are a few of our favorites:

Alamo Square, 1.1 miles from NEMA. Pack a picnic and visit the Painted Ladies. Don’t forget your camera: historic Alamo Square offers quintessential scenes of the City, including the famous Postcard Row. There’s a dedicated dog park, but the entire area is canine-friendly, so you can go ahead and bring your puppy to play.

Yerba Buena Gardens, 1.2 miles away from NEMA. Pedal down to play and relax amid landscaped lawns, serene waterfalls and colorful gardens at the cultural heart of San Francisco. The Gardens’ open spaces are available to you to enjoy fresh air and sunshine.

Japantown, 1.3 miles away from NEMA. The Japantown neighborhood comes to life in the spring when the cherry blossoms start to bloom. The annual Cherry Blossom Festival will be held on two weekends, April 9-10 and April 16–17 including traditional music, dance, and other cultural activities.

Salesforce Park, 1.6 miles from NEMA. This 5.4-acre rooftop park is located above the Salesforce Transit Center in the heart of SoMa. Lush landscape features trees and plants arranged in various parts of the park, and a linear fountain. The perimeter of the park is a walking trail that spans half a mile. Get your spring vibes and join a fitness class while you’re there.

Oracle Park, 1.9 miles away from NEMA. Baseball is one of the top things that come to mind when you think of spring. Nothing can match the excitement and atmosphere of a baseball game, so why not see the Giants playing at Oracle Park?

Bernal Heights Park, 2.6 miles from NEMA. Reward yourself with 360-degree panorama views of San Francisco sights after a hike up to Bernal Heights Park. Enjoy fresh air at the pleasant park that offers plenty of space to roam, an extensive playground and a beautiful backdrop for selfies. With acres upon acres of ‘off-leash’ parkland set aside for the dogs, this is a popular pick for pooches.

San Francisco Botanical Garden, 3.1 miles from NEMA. This living museum within Golden Gate Park, offers 55 acres of both landscaped gardens and open spaces, showcasing more than 8,000 different kinds of plants from around the world. Spring is an ideal time to visit with sweet, cheery beds of spring classics ready to welcome you.

Marina Green, 3.1 miles away from NEMA. The Marina Green provides stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Angel Island, and is surrounded by historic homes. Pack a picnic and catch the annual Opening Day on the Bay historical boat parade along the San Francisco waterfront on April 24 featuring over 100 historic workboats, fireboats, towboats, classics and more.

Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park, 4 miles from NEMA. Featuring classic elements such as an arched drum bridge, pagodas, stone lanterns, stepping stone paths, native Japanese plants, serene koi ponds and a zen garden. Cherry blossom trees bloom throughout the garden in March and April.

Baker Beach, 4.9 miles from NEMA. Gaze in wonder towards the Bridge and Marin Headlands from outside the Golden Gate at mile-long Baker Beach. It's nestled at the foot of rugged cliffs on the Presidio's western shore where you can spy the sunset as dogs sprint circles through the sand, fishermen pull in buckets of crab, and paddle boarders brave the cold water.
